ICL/IPCL is very thin lens which is put over the natural crystalline lens of the eye to correct the refractive error (removal of glasses). It is especially useful for those having very high power or thin cornea (Where lasik is contraindicated).
Unlike lasik cornea is not ablated in this procedure, making it more safer & reversible. And accommodation power of eye is also maintained, making it better than refractive lens exchange procedure.
Possibility of early Cataract and Glaucoma are two most important risks associated with it.
Like lasik, prior testing of eye to check if it is fit for ICL/IPCL is done. Corneal thickness, Anterior chamber depth measurement, White to white diameter, Intraocular pressure & retinal examination are most important tests for this procedure.
